- Twelve Week Student Teaching
- Beulah Elementary, Beulah, ND ● Third Grade ● Chantel McKay
- Spring 2019
- While here, I had the opportunity to develop hands on real-world lessons that I implemented throughout the course of twelve weeks. During my student teaching experience, I was allowed to have full control of the classroom for four weeks. I adapted and differentiated my lessons to fit the learning needs of my students. Creating relationships with the students and faculty made my time at Beulah Elementary a success and molded me into a better educator.
- Block 1 Practicum
- Cathedral Elementary, Bismarck, ND ● Fifth Grade ● Kay Power
- Spring 2018
- I had the privilege of implementing several language arts lessons through hands on activities and technology integration. While here, I was able to observe parent teacher conferences and a professional development meeting about STAR 360. This experience provided me with a better understanding of how a departmentalized grade level operates. Along with helping in the classroom, I assisted the cooperating teacher with the after school LEGO Robotics makerspace. Throughout my time, I was involved in various class activities such as the Discovery Dome and a trip to Riverwood Golf Course for a cross country skiing adventure.
- Block 2 Practicum
- Centennial Elementary, Bismarck, ND ● First Grade ● Greta Delparte
- Fall 2018
- Through this experience, I was given the chance to teach reading, math, science, and social studies lessons. The activities provided the young learners with the opportunity to move around, collaborate, and explore the materials. I was also granted the ability to observe a Professional Learning Center (PLC) and an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). When I was not teaching a lesson or doing a read aloud with the students, I worked one on one with the children to test their math and reading skills.

Conferences
- Beth Olshansky’s Image-Making within the Writing Process
- North Dakota Heritage Center, Bismarck, ND
- Summer 2018
- This week long conference helped me grasp the concept of image making and how this process is an effective tool to help students create descriptive writing pieces. While at this event, we made several watercolor pages; when this was completed, we spent the remainder of the days tearing and gluing these pages to make images about our family's immigration story. Beth Olshansky provided me with techniques on how to incorporate this process into my own classroom, so my students can become better descriptive writers. Along with the strategies, Beth Olshansky gave attendants a manual, an art stand, table posters, and three mentor texts that were created by her students.
- Technology Evaluation Workshop
- University of Mary, Bismarck, ND
- Spring 2018
- The workshop provided me with numerous ways to evaluate educational websites. I was also exposed to different ideas on how to assist students with choosing an authentic and informative website.
