Erin Delger, Future Teacher
I am from Hazen, North Dakota, a rural town in the Midwest part of the state. I have one older sister. I attended Hazen Elementary, Middle, and High School. While in school, I was active in volleyball, National Honor Society, and Peer Youth. During my senior year, I was employed by PRIDE Inc. where I had the chance to practice life skills with exceptional learners as a youth mentor.
After high school, I attended Bismarck State College where I enrolled in general courses for my Elementary Education Degree. I continued to work at PRIDE Inc. until the later portion of the 2015 fall semester. I then became employed at Missouri River Education Cooperative Extended School Program. I had the opportunity to work with students of all age levels and implement lessons. A year and a half later, I transferred to the University of Mary where I continued to pursue my teaching degree.
I was accepted into the Department of Education in Spring of 2018. Through this program, I have had numerous opportunities to work with a wide demographic of students. The diversity practice, reading assessment training, technology workshops, methods courses, and other professional development opportunities have guided my learning and have made me better. Each experience has shaped me into the educator that I am today.
Currently, I am enjoying my role as daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. In my free time, I enjoy reading, organizing, and being around friends.
In the future, I aim to acquire a teaching position in a community based school system. Here, I hope to implement the knowledge and experience that I have obtained throughout my college education.
